The most commonly asked question; “What is the meaning of life?” One question, with so many answers, but not all of them can be true right? So what is the REAL meaning of life, why are we really here on earth? I don’t think I’ve ever actually realized how short of a time we have here in this world until recently. As of a couple weeks ago my youth pastor was diagnosed with cancer and that made me realize how short of a time we really have here on earth. Let’s say from the beginning of time to eternity is like the distance between Omaha and Lincoln, so about 50 miles, our existence is about this big “.” the size of a period. So what should I be doing with my life in that short amount of time, what’s the meaning of life? I asked people from my friends at school to my mentors on what their opinion on this is and I got a various amount of different answers. Some people said to be happy or successful, some said there is no purpose, and some also said living for Christ. Like I said earlier, so many answers, but only one can be right and that’s got to be living for Christ. He is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). Without Him there is no purpose to this life, what am I living for if I’m not living for Him? We are here to praise Him, worship Him, and accomplish His will even through difficulties. We all have different callings in life, some are teachers, doctors, stay at home parents, lawyers, engineers, missionaries, whatever you do, but with whatever we do we are suppose to use that to give glory to God (1 Corinthians 10:31).

Living selflessly as well, which is something you really start to develop after giving your life to Christ. Love others as yourself, no matter who they are, where they’re from, or what they look like. They are God’s beautiful creation and we are to love them like how Christ loves us.

Remember the purpose God has given us is not our own purpose. The meaning of this life we live is to bring glory to God and only God. Get in to His word and be in constant communication with Him and He will show you what all He has in store for us in this wonderful life He’s blessed us with.
