hey there pals. this is team Selah. one of the wildest group of gals, they’re pretty odd too. they are one of my two teams that i get to lead here in Guat. they are a joy to be around and i love them deeply. we’ve got Kelsey, Emma, Mary Grace, Brooke, Hannah, Abbey, and Lauren. they are seven women who are running after the Father’s heart with everything they have and being able to run with them and push them into growth is one of the greatest privileges i’ve ever had. i laugh a lot with them and have all the deep conversations, my fav combo!!
for ministry we take a bus to Parramos and then squeeze in a little van up to a village named Los Corrales and there we get to walk around the village interacting with locals and visiting people’s homes. we have a great translator named Aderke, we’re great pals because we both think we’re the funniest people around.
for home visits usually one of us will knock on the door and then we’ll tell them why we’re there and that we just want to sit down and get to know them. we have yet to be rejected. the girls will ask questions about the peoples families, their relationship with the Lord, about how they met their espoa o esposo (spouse), or really anything. a lot of times we end up hanging out in people’s homes for a couple hours, like yesterday. we just sat with a man named Francisco and his wife as he told us about the current struggles from the war that ended in the 90s and the struggles of not having harvest due to the volcano eruption in June. we also got to hear about what he loves about being a father and a grandpa. oh, and he told us about armadillo hunting. we then got to pray for him and encourage him. the girls told him how about how the Holy Spirit doesn’t leave during hard times but is always present among us, and how He is our provider and will always take care of us. what a guy He is.
i’m amazed at the intentionality these girls have with the families and how much they desire to see relationship built. a cool thing that Selah has done is knowing that they will soon leave, they have been so intentional about cultivating community within the locals that runs deeper than just them. that way when they leave, this village still has people continuously encouraging and pouring into them. love that bout Selah.
after minsitry we’ll usually walk back to Parramos. Abbey and i usually stroll. we might swing through a place and get some chicken sandwiches or nuggets and then we’ll hop back on over to the base.
being with Selah always makes me happy. they are women who are intentional and women who don’t settle for what they already have. they fight for others and they fight for themselves. praise Jesus for these 7 who seek out what’s true. they build Kingdom, within others and within themselves. love these girls literally so much my heart can’t contain it.
lyss! got so much love for ya
Hi Alys. So happy to hear the joy that surrounds all of you strong, faith-filled young people. Always, remember I think of you and pray you stay healthy, strong, and safe. Blessings, Prayers and much Love. Grandma
Frick nuggets. Why do you always make me cry?! Praying for these 7 ladies and you to be soaking in Our Fathers safe presence, getting peaceful sleep, getting your poops out (lol- my fav one), and that when your hearts break to leave, you each remember that the work isnt finished, Gods not done with these people or you all. He loves them more than you ever could. He is a God of justice, a provider, a rescuer, of Love!!!
