Unfailing Love

This past month God has been showing me his unfailing love over and over again. In life and in scripture.

I can’t escape from the Lord’s love and honestly, that is so comforting. As much as I tend to run from it, it’s right there when I turn around. The Lord sees the deepest and darkest parts of me and yet still loves me through that. In fact He says, “Alyssa, let Me heal you from your past and from your shame. Where you are broken, I will heal you. Because I love you. I have forgiven you, because I love you. I died for you, because I love you.” Ahhhh, Jesus is incredible. His unfailing love is transforming who I am in Him.

This month here in Quito, Ecuador I’ve been reading through the book of Psalms which I absolutely love. The purpose of all these psalms is to provide poetry for praise, worship, and confession. There is seriously so much emotion in Psalms, and it makes me feel not so crazy for how I feel sometimes and provides an immense amount of comfort as well as sometimes discomfort, it can be challenging sometimes. Throughout reading the book of Psalms the words “unfailing love” are said so many times and I’m only 43 chapters in. Here’s a few verses that hit home for me that talk about God’s unfailing love,

Psalm 5:7 (NLT) – “Because of your unfailing love, I can enter your Temple with deepest awe.”

  • Even though I’m a sinner, I am loved deeply by Him so I can come to Him and sit in awe of how incredible He is.

Psalm 6:4 (NLT) – “Return, O Lord, and rescue me. Save me because of your unfailing love”

  • The Lord is willing, because of His love and kindness, to forgive me of my sins.

Psalm 13:5 (NLT) – “But I trust in your unfailing love. I will rejoice because you have rescued me.”

  • Because of His unfailing love, I have been rescued from my sins & from death. And because of that I can sing His praise.

Psalm 23:6 (NLT) – “Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.”

  • God loves me so much, that He wants to pursue me everyday, He chases after me. SAY WHAT.

Psalm 31:7 (NLT) – “I will be glad and rejoice in your unfailing love, for you have seen my troubles, and you care about the anguish of my soul.”

  • I can have joy in the fact that God loves me aside from my faults and that He cares for me endlessly.

Psalm 32:10 (NLT) – “Many sorrows come to the wicked, but unfailing love surrounds those who trust the Lord.”

  • Because I trust in God and who He is, I know that I am completely loved by Him.

Psalm 33:5 (NLT) – “He loves whatever is just and good: the unfailing love of the Lord fills this earth.”

  • I love how I can literally just look around me and see His love in His creation.

Psalm 33:22 (NLT) – “Let you unfailing love surround us, Lord, for our hope is in you alone.”

  • I can trust in Him and Him alone. (easier said than done.)

Psalm 36:7 (NLT) – “How precious is your unfailing love, O God! All humanity finds shelter in the shadow of your wings.”

  • This provided an insane amount of comfort for me, knowing that I can find a place of safety and rest in the Lord.

Psalm 40:10 (NLT) – “I have not kept the good news of your justice hidden in my heart: I have talked about your faithfulness and saving power. I have told everyone in the great assembly of your unfailing love and faithfulness.”

  • I know the unfailing love and have experienced, now to go and tell everybody else.

I’m currently reading a book called “Life Is ___.” by Judah Smith. “Whaaaaat, Alyssa’s reading a book? omg omg.”  I know, it’s a weird thing. Anyways, here’s a quote from it. “The whole Bible is the story of God’s love for humanity. It is not about sin, or about a performance, or about a religion; it is about a God who incessantly, obsessively, relentlessly loves His creation and went to great lengths to restore people to himself.”

Month one was a month of experiencing true freedom in Christ and experiencing God’s unfailing love. I’m so hype to see what this next month of rad encounters with Jesus and His people will hold.

Peace out homies.
