don’t go too far, here’s my King

kingdom – influenced by the king. 

the king cultivates the culture of the kingdom.

who is my King?

 

He appears different than most

and loves to go against the status quo

making His home among us

doing what none could do

 

if you look for one dressed up in fine clothing,

you just might pass Him by

if you look for one with deep compassion in His eyes,

I promise you’ve found Him

He’s the One

 

you’d see Him with women who sell their bodies at the loss of their own soul

or the man that flies high the confederate flag on a pole

turn on the news, another shooting occurred

my King loves the one who committed the crime

He’ll look the refugee and the illegal immigrant deep in the eye

 

frowns upon injustice and is willing to step down from His throne

fights for His people with the blood of His own

holds all royal power but won’t hold it over your head

He’s gracious and kind and is on your side

 

He doesn’t belittle or make less of

rather sees them face to face

He lets their voices be heard

giving feelings the weight they deserve

 

with His loving touch He’ll correct your heart

never will He condemn

never will He clothe you in shame

 

inviting you in, 

He made a way

 

a King with a gentle spirit

destroyed death once and for all

no one but Him will ever reign

rising from the dead on the third day

 

seated on the throne gazing upon His beloved creation

waiting with anticipation for the day He comes riding on in

 

meanwhile taking you by the hand

breathing life into your soul

awakening you to the freedom at reach

renewing your mind every thought at a time

 

our King is one like no other

seated high but always close by
